Cruising Broadway is a streaming comedy series inspired by original Broadway music that provides what the world needs now: fun ...and escape!

 

Max Titus and his partner, Captain Abdul Habib, are on the brink of financial disaster. Desperate to salvage their careers and save their home, they decide to relaunch their successful cruise ship musical despite not having the rights to "Cats." Their gamble pays off when Rainbow Tours books their entire cruise, bringing aboard a diverse group of passengers eager for Broadway excitement.

 

Onboard, Max and the Captain’s quirky crew—including the charismatic M.C. Chase Manhattan, former ballerina Chocha Nina, and the eccentric waitress Shoorah—prepare for a grand performance. However, a violent storm derails their plans, transporting them into the Bermuda Triangle, where they encounter historical and fictional characters such as Blackbeard and Amelia Earhart.

 

As the crew scrambles to maintain some semblance of normalcy and keep their predicament a secret, they face challenges like mutiny, bad food, and an increasingly absurd reality. Yet, amid the chaos, they learn to embrace their new world, transforming the ship into a joyous, floating Broadway spectacle.

 

In this whimsical adventure, Cruising Broadway celebrates perseverance, creativity, and the power of community, offering a heartwarming tale where every day is a celebration and every night unfolds into a Broadway extravaganza.

Episode 1: "Anchors Aweigh  

Max Titus, a struggling Broadway producer, and his partner, Captain Abdul Habib, are introduced as they face financial ruin. Their plan to reboot their past Broadway-at-sea musical collides with reality when they falsely advertise a production of *Cats* to attract bookings. An eclectic cast of characters, including Chase Manhattan, Chocha Nina, and Shoorah, joins the venture. Meanwhile, Justine Casey lands a job at Rainbow Tours, hiding her true self while viewing this cruise as a personal escape.

 

Episode 2: "Rehearsals and Rumbles"

The crew gathers in a dilapidated rehearsal space. Egos and personalities clash during chaotic rehearsals as the cast prepares for a half-baked, *Cats*-esque number. Shoorah bonds with Justine, who begins to suspect the truth about the production. Victor Mature, a shallow French influencer, arrives and immediately creates tension, particularly affecting Max and Abdul’s relationship.

 

Episode 3: "All Aboard the Chaos"

As passengers board, the show officially begins. Justine investigates the cruise's low standards while Rainbow Tours passengers grow restless over the lack of the promised *Cats*. Amidst the tension, unexpected dynamics emerge: Shoorah becomes smitten with Justine, and Victor Mature flirts shamelessly with Abdul, testing his relationship with Max. Strange weather signals the crew's impending doom.

 

Episode 4: "Into the Vortex"

The ship becomes lost in the Bermuda Triangle, encountering fantastical visitors such as Blackbeard, Amelia Earhart, and the crew of the Mary Celeste. Max, grappling with guilt and pressure, sinks back into gambling, while Shoorah and Justine’s relationship intensifies. The performers unexpectedly bond with the Triangle’s inhabitants, creating an otherworldly Broadway revue.

 

Episode 5: "Broadway in Limbo" 

To calm the passengers, Max produces a dazzling and bizarre variety show featuring the Triangle’s visitors. The pirates, Amelia Earhart, and the crew of the Mary Celeste perform increasingly absurd acts. Meanwhile, Justine and Shoorah reconcile, while Max and Abdul confront the fractures in their relationship. Victor Mature’s antics lead to comedic fallout when he hijacks the bingo microphone to announce their doom.

 

Episode 6: "Boatopia"

The characters unite to embrace their new reality. Max and Abdul rekindle their relationship, Justine and Shoorah fully commit to each other, and the passengers accept their fate, transforming the ship into a floating Broadway utopia. Each character finds a place in this eccentric, timeless community. In a heartfelt finale, the cast honors Broadway’s legacy while forging their own.

The prequel to "Cruising Broadway" is a 6 part online podcast that explores the events leading up to the challenging times depicted in the original story.  The podcast aims to create an atmosphere of fun and adventure, setting the stage for what’s to come.

 

Episode 1: "All Aboard the Queen of the Seas" 

The cruise begins as passengers and crew board the luxurious *Queen of the Seas*. Max Titus, a budget-conscious Broadway producer, meets Captain Abdul Habib (Ahab), sparking instant tension—and chemistry. The Master of Ceremonies, Chase Manhattan, introduces the eccentric crew and passengers. Everyone is excited for a Broadway-themed adventure, but tensions rise as Max's frugality clashes with the ship's lavish expectations.  

 

Episode 2: "Spotlights and Shadows" 

As rehearsals for the ship’s Broadway revue begin, Chocha Nina auditions the cast, leading to a chaotic and comedic scene. Shoorah, the German waitress, dreams of stardom and reveals her Euro-pop aspirations. Meanwhile, the passengers’ relationships deepen: Jim and Shirley reminisce about their golden years, Marian and Rejenka struggle with commitment, and Noah and Leo navigate the complexities of modern love.

 

Episode 3: "Love Afloat"

Chase Manhattan plays cupid, orchestrating romantic encounters among the passengers and crew. Flirtations and misunderstandings abound as Janet and Marika explore their adventurous sides, while Noah’s wandering eye creates tension with Leo. Amidst the chaos, Max and the Captain are forced to collaborate on an unexpected shipboard problem, leading to mutual respect and the first signs of romance.

 

Episode 4: "The Show Must Go On"

As opening night of the revue approaches, tensions run high. The Captain and Max continue to butt heads but find common ground through their shared love for the sea—and each other. Meanwhile, Shoorah finally gets her moment to shine, and Chocha Nina surprises everyone by showing a softer side. The passengers rally together, overcoming personal struggles to put on a spectacular show.

 

Episode 5: "Storm Warning" 

A sudden storm threatens to derail the cruise, forcing everyone to come together to save the ship. Shayne, the prankster sailor, unexpectedly steps up as a hero, earning the crew’s respect. In the midst of the chaos, Max and the Captain share a heartfelt moment that deepens their bond. The storm serves as a metaphorical turning point, bringing clarity and unity to the characters.

 

Episode 6: "A Queer Carnival" 

With the storm behind them, the ship hosts a joyous queer Caribbean carnival to celebrate survival, love, and the Broadway spirit. The carnival serves as a culmination of all storylines: Jim and Shirley rediscover their spark, Marian and Rejenka find balance, and Noah and Leo reaffirm their love. The Captain and Max finally confess their feelings in a moving duet. The series concludes with a jubilant revue that brings the whole cast together for a final celebration.
