"Cruising Broadway" is a whimsical and comedic musical that follows struggling Broadway producer Max Titus and his partner, Captain Abdul Habib, as they attempt to revive their old cruise ship show to save their careers. Without the rights to "Cats," they advertise it, drawing in Justine Casey of Rainbow Tours, who books the entire ship.
Alongside their eccentric crew—Chase Manhattan, Chocha Nina, and Shoorah—the show is prepared aboard the Queen of the Seas. As they set sail, a storm throws the ship off course, leading to encounters with historical figures like Blackbeard and Amelia Earhart. Lost at sea, Max and the Captain hide the truth from passengers, continuing to perform to maintain morale. Meanwhile, Justine and Shoorah bond and secrets about the ship’s strange situation begin to surface. Despite the growing absurdity, the passengers embrace the chaos, transforming the ship into a floating Broadway paradise.
Instead of despairing, they create a joyful and harmonious community where every night is filled with laughter and performances. "Cruising Broadway" celebrates resilience and the enduring power of theatre as the characters make the best of their circumstances and find happiness in their new "Boatopia."
